Kirill Smal earned the silver medal of the Trofeo delle Industrie tournament in Italy

On November 1-3, the 48th edition of the Trofeo delle Industrie took place at at the South Garda Karting Circuit in Lonato, Italy.

SMP Racing junior driver Kirill Smal was classified second in the OK class of the prestigious tournament and the oldest karting race in the world.

In total, 247 participants from 42 countries took part in the competition. Despite the rainy conditions, Kirill immediately made his way into the top three: in qualifying, the Russian driver finished second, losing only 0.03 seconds to the leader of the race. In both qualifying heats, Smal was second fastest, which secured him second position on the starting grid in the Prefinal. In the Prefinal and Final, Kirill managed to keep his position and as a result held the second place in the overall standings.


“Kirill had a very strong and stable weekend," Petr Aleshin, director of the junior SMP Racing program said. “For most of the season he has consistently shown good results. Smal's achievements allow us to look to the future with optimism. There is a lot of work ahead, but I’m sure that Kirill will be able to reveal the true extent of his talent."
