SMP Racing junior driver Robert Shwartzman took second place in Race 1 of the second FIA Formula 3 round, which takes place on June 22-23 in France at Circuit Paul Ricard.

Robert started from third position and fought against his rivals during the whole race. In the middle of the race, he successfully overtook two cars at once and moved up to second place and kept the position until the finish line.

“At the start, we decided to try other car setups, but I almost stalled and lost a few positions because of this,” SMP Racing driver Robert Schwartzman said. “As a result, I was sixth or seventh in the pack, and in the second and third turns we fought a lot with our rivals. I was able to defend my position and then, without losing time, began to gain positions. I overtook two cars ahead, then I got close to Hughes and Armstrong and overtook them in turn as well, but I felt that the tyre was wearing out, and the rest of the race would be difficult. I am glad that we managed to keep our position to the finish. We had a good fight with Jake and Marcus, and it is a pity that they had an accident when they tried to attack me. In the last few laps, when I had real problems with tires, Pedro Piquet was very close to me and tried to overtake, but I successfully fended off the attacks of other drivers and finished second and I am very happy about it.”
