Robert missed the award ceremony for the International Automobile Federation (FIA), which took place on December 6 in Paris, and Boris Rotenberg, the founder and head of the SMP Racing program, accepted the award on his behalf. That day, Shwartzman took part in FIA Formula 2 post-season testing in Abu Dhabi.

The Russian was able to attend in person the award ceremony for the Formula 2 and Formula 3 Championships, where he received his well-deserved Championship Cup.

“We did a really good job. I didn’t expect us in the beginning to be so strong,” Robert Shwartzman said. “I’m really grateful for the team for an amazing job they have done. We have been consistent all year long, I’m really happy about that. Even though there were some mistakes, but I’m proud that our cars were always on the top. Big thanks to the team for all the support. It’s been my first year in this paddock and it was an amazing new experience, next year I will participate in F2, it will be a new challenge for me and I will do my best to achieve great results. To win a championship at my home track was amazing and a great privilege as it would be for any driver. I never felt like this in my life. It was a special moment. Thank you to all my Russian fans and SMP Racing for the support.”
