SMP Racing driver Robert Shwartzman finished third in the last race of the FIA Formula 3 season, which took place on September 27-29 at the Russian Sochi Autodrom.
Robert, who a day before took the championship title, started Sunday's race from seventh position. Over the twenty-lap distance he managed to gain four places and climb to the third step of the podium. In total, Shwartzman took ten podiums for this season: three wins, four second and three third places. In the overall standings he scored 212 points, 54 points ahead of his closest rival and his teammate Marcus Armstrong.
“We finished the season on the podium, I went up to the third step, it’s really nice,” SMP racing driver Robert Shwartzman said. “That was the maximum that we could do today. Unfortunately, the car did not allow us to win, there were problems with balance, tyres, and I could not break through further. Anyway, this is my tenth podium, so I'm very glad we have achieved a lot this year. I want to thank SMP Racing, the whole team and all my fans. Now the main task is to make the right choice for my future path and start working, getting ready and showing the same great result next year.”
