Next Friday and Saturday they will drive a 1000-mile distance along this American track in Florida.
The the BR1#11 will be shared by Mikhail Aleshin, Vitaly Petrov and Brandon Hartley, who is replacing Jenson Button in the two upcoming rounds in Sebring and Spa. Sergey Sirotkin, Egor Orudzhev and Stefan Sarrazan are the BR#17 line-up for the final three races of the 2018/19 WEC Super Season.
During the tests, special attention was paid to tuning the suspension of cars due to the specific character of the track, which is known for its bumps. The test program also included qualification and race simulations, as well as pit stop training.
“The track is difficult, and there are a lot of bumps on it,” said Vitaly Petrov. “Probably for the first time during the performance in this championship we are driving along such a bumpy track, and special attention is paid, of course, to the suspension settings. The problem is that the car literally jumps up, it starts to turn in different directions, which makes it harder to pass corners quickly. But I'm sure we are well prepared and looking forward to the race.”
“We have worked quite productively these days,” Sergey Sirotkin added. “We managed to find some interesting solutions for the upcoming race. We mainly worked on the stiffness of the suspension, stabilizers, dumpers, in general, everything that especially affects the behavior of the car on this bumpy road. It is necessary to adjust all this so as not to lose the level of adhesion. We have done a lot of what was planned, and we are waiting for the weekend in order to evaluate the work accomplished in the race.”
Qualifying races of the FIA WEC's 1000 Miles of Sebring will be on March 15 at 5:00 a.m.(Moscow time), the start of the race is at 23:00 on March 15.
