SMP Racing driver Sergey Sirotkin will drive for the French team ART Grand Prix at the pre-season tests of the FIA Formula 2 Championship, which will be held on March 1-3 in Bahrain.

Sergey will replace the Danish driver Christian Lundgaard, who, for reasons beyond his control, is forced to miss the pre-season tests. Sergey Sirotkin has previously competed for the ART Grand Prix - in 2016, as a part of the French team, he finished third overall in the GP2 Series. The leadership of the team has always been satisfied with Sergey's results and has noted that the Russian is skilled at working with the race engineer and providing accurate information regarding the car's behaviour. Also, given the fact that the SMP Racing driver has already gained experience driving on 18-inch Pirelli tires, which are being introduced in Formula 2 this year, the management of ART Grand Prix invited Sirotkin to replace Lundgaard.

The pre-season tests of the FIA Formula 2 Championship will be held at the held at the Bahrain International Circuit. Sirotkin's programme comprises test sessions taking place across three days - from March 1 to 3.

“I am very pleased to receive such an offer from ART Grand Prix. I admit, it was unexpected for me,” Sergey Sirotkin said. “I want to thank the team for choosing me among a large number of other drivers, and for its trust. I will be very pleased to be back behind the wheel of a racing car, and I will try to do a good job and help develop the machine with the new tyres, and in accordance with the new regulations."
