SMP Racing junior driver Nikita Bedrin took part in the second round of the FIA Karting European Championship in the OK-Junior class on May 17-19 at Genk, Belgium.

In the qualifying practice, Bedrin was fastest in his group and classified second in the overall standings. In the next five qualifying heats, Nikita finished four times in first place and secured pole position in finals. The Russian had a great battle with his rivals during the entire race and managed to take third position but was downgraded two places by a penalty. As a result, Bedrin moved to fifth position in the final standings.

“We had very interesting competitions,” Nikita Bedrin said. “From the very beginning I managed to drive all the qualifying rounds well. I became the first four times and only once the fourth. In the Final, I started from the first row of the Final grid. There were nineteen laps to the finish line. My rivals were strong, and we fought throughout the race. In the last corner of the last lap, I managed to move up to third place, but the stewards after the race penalized me for the move. Therefore, I became fifth in the overall standings. This happens, I will take into account my mistakes and will do my best not make them again and achieve even better results in the future.”

The next round of FIA Karting European championship of OKJ will be held at the Swedish track of Kristianstad from 30th May to 2 of June.
